RESIDENTIAL ROOFTOP · MANHATTAN · 2023

An outdoor patio area with white chairs and tables, surrounded by lush green plants, and a brick building in the background.

A bare terrace becomes a living outdoor room

Design, install & maintenance · Planters, seasonal planting · Inoculated mulch added 2026

This Manhattan rooftop came to us as an underused corridor — bare brick, no shade, no reason to stay. The brief was to create a lush seasonal garden which can be experienced both from the apartment and outside: somewhere to eat, gather, and enjoy the sun.

MYCOSCAPING NOTE

This project predates our inoculation practice, but in winter 2024 we returned to add mycelium-inoculated mulch across all planters. We're watching how the soil responds — early signs show improved water retention and stronger spring growth compared to previous years.
